How often do you publish issues?

We have switched to quarterly issues, meaning once every three months. This is so we can ensure the submitters, editors, submission readers, and everyone else involved has enough time to do their best work.

Are contributors paid?

Unfortunately not at this time as we are a nonprofit we are unable to pay contributors. We do give all contributors a free PDF of the issue, and are working on getting discount codes for our Kofi store.

How can I get involved?

We would love for you to join the SeaGlass fam! You can get involved by submitting to our issues and/or applying to be a volunteer! If you don’t want the time commitment, follow us on Instagram! It’s an easy way to support us and help us grow.

Where does the money from issues and donations go?

All funds go straight to our account where it is kept under lock and key for all our magazine essentials. The money strictly goes to our website and Easil (which is what we use for all posts and graphics!). We don’t keep any of the money for ourselves, and make sure to use every cent to benefit the community.

Do you pay your team?

We would love to one day pay our team, however we are unable to at this time. We compensate our volunteers with volunteer hours, and are always able to write letters of recommendation upon request.

How can I keep up to date with SeaGlass news?

The easiest way is to follow our Instagram! We post consistently with all the latest updates as well as some fun stuff! Our newsletter is also super amazing and will help keep you up to date as well. We also have TikTok!

Where can I buy the issues?

Currently some physical copies are available via Amazon, and all PDF versions are on KoFi.

I want to support your magazine, but I can’t buy anything at this time. What else can I do?

That’s okay! We don’t want anyone to feel obligated to donate or buy things, so here are some very easy ways you can support us for free! Following us on Instagram and sharing us on your story helps tremendously! Likes, comments, shares, all of those are easy ways to support us and help us grow. Same thing on TikTok, likes help so much! Submitting to our magazine also helps us grow, as the more people that are in our magazine the more likely we are to get sponsors.

A piece of mine that is published in a SeaGlass issue was accepted to be published elsewhere, what should I do?

First of all, congratulations! That is great news. You can absolutely have your pieces published elsewhere once published with us. There are some important steps to follow:
Notify the other publisher that your piece has previously been published (Some places are cool with this, others aren’t so be sure to check!)
At the end of your piece, credit us in the following format:
This piece was originally published by SeaGlass Literary in their *number* issue on *publication date*

I submitted a piece to SeaGlass and another magazine and it was accepted by both, what should I do?

Congratulations! That’s a great accomplishment. Unfortunately we don’t accept previously published pieces, so if the other issue comes out before ours you’ll have to choose which offer to accept. If our issue will come out first, see the above question for what to do for the other magazine. Please let us know if you decide to retract your piece from our issue as soon as possible so we can adjust accordingly.
